Theology and Library Science degrees in the 80's did not prepare me for today's library customers! An Open Source zealot with an eye on the bottom line, I am blessed to work in a library where I can pursue my passion for delighting customers by reducing their costs of discovery and delivery of library stuff. I have spent 25 years having fun at work, most recently as Deputy Director of Howard County Library.

I started my library career working as a page for Anne Arundel County Maryland for seventy-four cents a hour. I went on to become a bouncer at Baltimore County Public Library. I have since seen a moderate raise in that base rate.

Favorite TV shows: I stopped watching TV in the 70s, so it's still Green Acres. Does watching Firefly on DVD count? Ours may be the last family in the First World that doesn't have cable.

If I could live anywhere, it would be: Paris

My dream job(s): Working with bright, committed people who have a terrific sense of humor. Most days that would do it.

What else you should know about me: I don't eat animals that didn't have backbones. I don't eat reptiles, amphibians or fungi. I posted jokes on the Internet in 1993 and they are still there.
